Spring Reset
As we slowly emerge from another season of winter, the idea of spring clean is to wake up after a long period of rest and introversion. So, if we’re doing this for our home why don’t we do this for ourselves? A day, or two, to reset our system. The idea of detoxing and cleansing the body is often linked to intense restricted eating practices and vigorous exercise that often leave you feeling more stressed than clear headed and well. So why not indulge rather than challenge yourself to a day of deep nourishment to awaken ourselves to the newness of Spring!
To prepare
The day before - slowly increase your water intake aiming for at least 2L, this wakes up the kidneys, and moves excess waste through your gut promoting our natural detox mechanisms.
Read a book before bed rather than scrolling, or listen to a sleep time meditation. If you can switch off your alarm, and allow yourself to wake naturally. This reset is perfect for the weekend or the beginning of a holiday!
Morning
Before reaching for your phone, stay where you are for a little while and ground back into your body by taking 5 deep breaths with long exhales. Deep breathing opens your lungs to clear stagnant energy from sleep and wake up your whole system.
Open the windows - even if the air is chilling, think of it like an ice bath. Open the windows and let the stagnation out.
Hydrate - one big glass of lukewarm water with a big squeeze of lemon. Lemon wakes up your digestion.
Now let’s wake up the lymphatic system with some morning yoga. Either head to local class at your studio or pop on a morning yoga youtube series. Aim for 20-30 minutes of slow stretching. Follow with a top to toe dry brush, an “everything shower” and a deep moisturise.

Breakfast - if your need for caffeine is great, then this morning challenge yourself to green tea or matcha. Both are rich in polyphenols that are antioxidant and anti-inflammatory and won't cause a caffeine crash later in the day.
Afternoon
Hydrate - to ensure our system is moving, focus on hydration. Aim for 2 litres of water today to support your natural detox processes.
The perfect activity for a spring reset is sweating it out in an infrared or steamy sauna. Use coconut water to restore electrolytes and boost hydration! Or choose to disconnect from screens and enjoy reading a book outside. Spring is the perfect time to restore your Vitamin D stores that may have depleted in the dark months of winter. Vitamin D is important for mood, immune and hormonal function!
If its a rainy spring day, cosy up with book, or your favorite blog - we love The Maudern from our friends at Maude.
Change your bed sheets and reset the energy of your resting space. Wash your sheets with a sensual scent like Mandarin, Lime & Basil , light a new candle and clean down the surfaces. A light spring clean to reset the energy.

Lunch - our spring crunch salad is perfect for your day or rest and resetting. It keeps well if you have prepared it the day before. Enjoy some honeydew melon or cantaloupe with fresh mint for a snack. Melon and mint are an easy to digest combination to tackle bloating!
Spring Crunch Salad
Recipe: EAT THIS
Spring Crunch Salad
Makes 4 serves
1 bunch of curly kale
½ cup pumpkin seeds
½ cup sunflower seeds
½ cup olives chopped and pitted
1 tin organic chickpeas
½ juice of a lemon
2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
Pinch salt and pepper
1 tbs apple cider vinegar
1tbs local honey
Protein of your choice! We love tofu, hot smoked salmon, poached chicken breast
-
Wash and chop curly kale finely massage with your hands for 2 minutes with a small drizzle of olive oil. This will tenderise the kale making it much easier to eat and digest.
-
Combine with all other ingredients
-
In a separate jar squeeze half a lemon, 2 tbsp of good quality extra virgin olive oil, salt, pepper, 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar and 1 tbsp of local honey. Shake well and dress salad as you serve it.
Evening
Once the sun sets, turn on lamps rather than the big lights and reduce your exposure to blue light to ensure a restful sleep. A bath is the best way to wind down. If you’ve been sweating in a sauna, use bath oils and milks to restore moisture and not deplete your electrolyte stores.
Choose a meal that is simple to prepare and easy to digest like steamed fish and vegetables, a light vegetable soup, grilled chicken and spring crunch salad.
Settle into your fresh sheets, and apply magnesium rub to the bottom of your feet to further relax your muscles. Sip on a sleepy time tea and enjoy a spicy romance novel. Sleep well.
Return to this reset any time you might need. The idea is to move with intention, tune into your body and indulge in self care.
